New Zealand has bestowed a knighthood on their most famous film-maker! "Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson, 53 was knighted in his native New Zealand. The award which has been reinstated for the first time in a decade was approved by the queen, the country's head of state.
Peter Jackson director of the Academy Award winning "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and many other popular films described the honor as an "incredible moment." Jackson said in a written statement, "I didn't think anything would surpass the 2004 Academy Awards, but I was wrong," he said. "The feeling of gratitude and pride I have in accepting this honor from my home country is profound."
